They Won’t Stay Dead

Just when you thought it was safe to visit the cemetery, another zombie movie pulls itself out of its grave. Like the undying evil that populates the genre, zombie movies are still on the rise, despite being killed off and run into the ground by pointless, uninteresting movies (I’m looking at you unnecessary Dawn of the Dead remake). For the latest reanimation tale, Shoreline Entertainment has optioned the film rights to “The Living Corpse” – an “adult, indie comic book” – reports Variety.

Never heard of “The Living Corpse”? Can’t name a Shoreline Entertainment hit off the top of your head? That might not be such a bad thing. After all, the small following “The Living Corpse” has kills off the possibility of fanboy buzz and flaming, and the fledging Shoreline Entertainment is backing the promising The Signal.

At least the story is refreshing, “The Living Corpse” spins the yarn of a zombie who has vague memories of his past life and his mission is to keep the rest of the brain-eaters in their graves. I love zombie movies, and it’s hard pressed to get my excited about one these days, but “The Living Corpse” could have me. Taking the philosophical undertones of Romero’s Land of the Dead to a whole new level, “The Living Corpse” could be perfect combination of heady-themes and flesh devouring fun.
