Video Shows What Nicolas Cage Looked Like Pre-CGI In Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance

Prior to the release of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, one thing that star Nicolas Cage remarked was different about the sequel from the original was that in the new movie he would actually be playing The Rider, and not some stunt double. What you may not know, however, is that before the visual effects were applied Cage had his face painted like a skull and wore a bunch of glow-sticks on his head. True story.

One of the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance's Blu-ray special features has found its way online and in addition to showing off more than 11 minutes of stuff you didn't see in theaters, it also shows what Cage looked like while pretending to be in full Rider-mode. You can watch the whole video below or skip ahead to approximately the 1:50 mark to see Cage's crazy look.

I sure hope that Cage had fun playing Ghost Rider this time around, because there's a very good chance it will be the last time. Released back in February, Spirit of Vengeance only managed to pull in $51 million domestically on a small $57 million budget during its theatrical run and only managed to open in third place its opening weekend (behind both Safe House and The Vow, which were both in their second weeks). Perhaps the Rider will be the superhero to follow in Daredevil's footsteps and head back to Marvel Studios next.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is currently available to buy on DVD and Blu-ray.
