news:blended 11.22 - 11.28

Too lazy to read all the wonderful news our insightful crew scours the globe to bring you every day? Too outmoded to have an MP3 player for the podcast? Shame on you all! However, being the generous lot we are, welcome to news:blended, your weekly guide to the most interesting stories reported on Cinema Blend over the last seven days.

We just enjoyed our turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and pie in order to give thanks for wiping out the indigenous people groups oh those many years ago. I’m kidding, of course, we really gave thanks that Twilight is one week closer to being out of theaters forever.

SATURDAY

Just rent Deadwood, you know?

Sequel Fever: Catch It!

Have you seen Deadwood? I’d like to take the opportunity of this week’s story about Timothy Olyphant being in a George Romero horror flick to pimp the departed HBO Western. You can find it on DVD and you should. Another movie we will be able to catch on DVD but not for many years is the first sequel to Twilight. After the movie made 11 jillion dollars on opening day, they announced a sequel. God help us all.

SUNDAY

This looks like the worst movie ever made.

Actors may strike. You don’t care.

I can’t imagine who would go see a movie with Renee Zellweger as a high powered Miami business executive who has to spend the winter in Minnesota with a bunch of less murderous Fargo rejects. It looks like the biggest pile of bat dung ever. I wish the actor’s strike which now seems more likely (although no one seems to care) had happened the day before this movie started shooting. That would have been the best thing ever.

MONDAY

For Your Consideration: Stop All the Advertising.

Here we go again.

The Dark Knight is a great movie with powerful performances that deserve end of the year award recognition. Everyone knows that, why do the studios need to buy pages of advertising to push what everyone already knows? Just let the movies stand on their own. Hey look, I said something semi-serious there. Nothing serious about a Sex and the City sequel. It’s just more middle-aged women getting drunk with their girlfriends and watching fashion porn.

TUESDAY

Jus’ keepin’ it real.

Jus’ keepin’ it not real.

Josh felt Thanksgiving was a good time to say thanks to some filmmakers who deal with reality. Real issues, real people, real stuff. I don’t see the Thanksgiving connection really, but anything that gets more people to watch the movies of Danny Boyle and the Coen Brothers is coolio in my book. The very unreal Iron Man is also coolio in my book.

WEDNESDAY

I actually took this advice.

We got to meet Dennis Hopper. Well, not me, but someone.

Katey Rich said Bolt would be a good movie to take the family to on Thanksgiving Day, and she was right. So an opinion on this site was right. Finally! Katey came up with this opinion even though she was busy interviewing Dennis Hopper about movies and politics and all sorts of things. He voted for Obama, and he’s a Republican! That’s the kind of entertainment related news you can expect from us here. .

THURSDAY

The second most annoying Vampire fans in the world get good news.

The real hardest working man in show business.

Remember before Twilight when Joss Whedon fans were the most annoying in the world? Well, the Twlight success has restarted rumors of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I mean, it was already a movie, but this would be another movie. Get ready Twilight fans, the Whedonites are going to be back with a vengeance to show you how it’s done. We also did a Brian Dennehy story on Thursday. The fact that we didn’t do many stories on Thanksgiving is the only reason this is showing up in news:blended. Enjoy it Brian.

FRIDAY

Isn’t this just like Katherine Heigl’s last movie?

Remember that movie where Katherine Heigl was a bridesmaid and she fell for some guy who at first she hated? Well, she made that movie again, only with a different guy and she’s a television producer instead of a bridesmaid. Nothing like a mixing it up a little, right Katherine?

That’s all for another week of news blending. It’s like what you get at Jamba Juice, but cheaper and not quite as healthy. If you liked it or didn’t, leave some feedback.
