Pennywise in the IT remake

The Dark Tower has so far proven to be a critical letdown, but Stephen King fans need not worry, because another one of his classic tales is heading to the big screen next months. So far the IT trailers have done a tremendous job of teasing Pennywise's reign of terror in Derry, Maine, but if you're dying to see even more footage before the horror movie is released, you're in luck. Warner Bros is releasing a special preview next week, but to watch it it, you'll need to buy a ticket for Annabelle: Creation.

As noted by Trailer Track, an extended footage reel for IT totaling over four minutes has been officially rated, and it will likely be attached to Annabelle: Creation when that's released next week. It also doesn't sound like this footage will be released online either, so if you want to see what it has to offer, you'll need to plop down in the theater for the viewing experience, and then stay to watch the prequel about the possessed doll from the Conjuring universe, which so far has earned positive reviews. It's also a wise synergetic move to attach this IT preview to Annabelle: Creation, as many folks who are checking our the killer doll's rampage are either already interested in IT or may be swayed to see it after watching the special footage.

As the second live action adaptation of Stephen King's novel (the first being the 1990 miniseries starring Tim Curry), the IT movie will take place in the 1980s instead of the 1950s, but the overall premise remains the same. A demonic, shapeshifting entity is behind a recent string of child murders. When a group of young outcasts, the Losers' Club, start investigating the deaths, they run into the entity's primary form, Pennywise the Dancing Clown. This is the first installment of a planned duology, with the second IT movie set to adapt the second half of King's novel, where the kid protagonists return to Derry as adults and cross paths with Pennywise again.

In case you can't make it to Annabelle: Creation or have surprisingly managed to miss the marketing for IT, give the most recent full-length trailer a watch below.

IT scares its way into theaters on September 8, and its cast includes Bill Skarsgard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.
