Subscribe To Watch Zoolander and Hansel Hilariously Crash Weekend Update Updates
Saturday Night Live delivered an exemplary episode of television last night, offering host Larry David a chance to flex his comedic chops and riff to his heart’s content. However, one of the bets bits of the night didn’t even involve the host; it took place during Weekend Update and featured some very special, really, really, really ridiculously good looking guests. Derek Zoolander and Hansel appeared not only to promote their upcoming movie Zoolander 2, but also to tear apart the fashion sense of contemporary politicians. Check out the sketch below.

Under the false pretense that they have arrived on the show to talk about Fashion Week, the pair of male models immediately delve into a roast of America’s top politicians. Derek makes the bold comparison that Hillary Clinton dresses like Kim Jong Un, while also pointing out that Bernie Sanders dresses like he buys his suits at a discount store. Along the way the to call back to numerous, and now iconic, jokes from the original Zoolander, such as Hansel’s drug use making him hallucinate certain traumatic life events as well as their overall general stupidity. The appearance ends with the duo roasting none other than Donald Trump (because of course) giving him new looks such as, Orange Mocha Crappuccino, Hot Mess, and Second Place.
As soon as the characters appeared at the desk, the entire audience went wild – and for good reason. The world has been a fairly dark and scary place in the noticeable absence of Derek Zoolander and Hansel. We really can’t stress enough just how excited we are that they will be returning when Zoolander 2 hits theaters next week. They’re perfect characters to have appeared on a segment like Weekend Update because their vapid stupidity and acute pop culture awareness makes their observations equally poignant and hilarious. They’re cocky enough to believe that they’re the ones making the joke, while stupid enough to have endless amounts of jokes cracked at their own expense; it’s essentially a comedic perfect storm.
If you’re a fan of Saturday Night Live, Zoolander, or just comedy in general, be sure to check out the segment above. Last night showed the world that SNL still has plenty of life left in it, and we can only hope that future episodes continue this upward trend in quality. Be sure to check out Hansel and Derek Zoolander when Zoolander 2 hits theaters on February 12.
