This Is 40, Les Miserables And More Teased By Universal At CinemaCon

A few hours ago I published my recap of the Bourne Legacy footage shown today during the Universal Pictures presentation at CinemaCon, but that was far from the only movie that the studio had on display at the convention. Over the course of two hours they showed off footage from every single film that remains on their 2012 calendar and beyond, including outrageous comedies and Oscar-hopeful dramas. And I’m here to tell you about them.

Jeremy Renner Runs, Hits Hard, And Saves Rachel Weisz In New Bourne Legacy Footage

Just a few minutes ago I walked out of my final studio presentation at CinemaCon, and while I got to see some new stuff from exciting upcoming titles like\Ted, This is 40, Savages and Les Miserables (more on those later), the material on display for The Bourne Legacy was easily the most thought-provoking and extensive.

Life Of Pi CinemaCon Footage Attacks With Flying Fish

Just yesterday the first official image for Ang Lee’s The Life of Pi came online. The picture featured a Indian teenager with a turban standing on one end of a lifeboat, with a roaring Bengal tiger on the other. For those that haven’t read Yann Martel’s novel, or are at least not familiar with the story, it could have been perceived as a very odd still. Luckily, I’ve just come back from watching the first footage from the film and I’m happy to explain what it’s all about.

Neighborhood Watch Footage At CinemaCon Reveals The Aliens

Due to the situation with Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman, the upcoming Akiva Schaffer-directed comedy Neighborhood Watch has hit a few speed bumps. The controversial case has not exactly primed people to laugh about private security groups and vigilantism. To combat this, it was revealed earlier this month that the film’s marketing would start focusing more on the science-fiction side of the story and the alien invasion that drives the plot.

James Bond Gets Interrogated In First Skyfall Trailer Shown At CinemaCon

When it comes to blockbusters, there is always a certain time window a few months in advance of the release date when you know that a teaser trailer is imminent. With Skyfall, the latest installment of the James Bond franchise, due out on November 9th, that means that we are in that window now. While it has not yet been announced when the trailer will either be arriving online or in theaters, I can tell you that it’s been completed. How can I tell you that? Because I’ve just seen it.

Pixar Sets Title For Dinosaur Film, And Director For Dia De Los Muertos Movie

While we countdown to June for the release of Pixar's exciting-looking new animated film Brave (check out the latest trailer here!), Pixar is looking ahead at future projects, which include a film based on the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, the "Untitled Pixar Movie that Takes You Inside the Mind" and a dinosaur film that now has a title.

Jack White To Score Disney's The Lone Ranger

The more we learn about the upcoming Disney film The Lone Ranger, the more interesting the project seems to get. Just the other day, we shared some comments Johnny Depp made about the inspiration for the make-up he's wearing as Tonto. And today we learned some intriguing news on the subject of the film's score. The movie now has someone on board to do the score, and he could prove to bring a very interesting sound to the mix.

Ferrell Punches A Baby And DiCaprio Lives The Good Life In First Footage From The Campaign And The Great Gatsby

Starting with the new Will Ferrell-Zach Galifianakis comedy, director Jay Roach came out to address the audience and explained that they were originally planning to release The Campaign towards the end of the presidential election...

New Hobbit Footage Shows Bilbo And Gollum Trading Riddles

As mentioned in my previous post about The Dark Knight Rises, I spent this morning at the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon, which ended with 10 full minutes of footage from the highly-anticipated J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation. But this was more than just your standard sizzle reel, as the material was the first ever to be shown at the somewhat-controversial 48 frames-per-second frame rate that Jackson announced he was using almost exactly one year ago.

Bane's Audio Clears Up And The Bat Dazzles In New Dark Knight Rises Footage

Stepping out on the stage at the Colisseum in Caesar’s Palace after an introduction from Warners president Jeff Robinov, Nolan announced that he wouldn’t be showing a at the event trailer, but rather showing a series of short clips and shots with minimal dialogue.

New G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer Arrives Online, Extended Footage From CinemaCon Recapped

While a good amount of what you just watched was included in the sizzle reel, there were some other awesome-looking sequences that were left out. Of them, my personal favorite was a sequence featuring Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) doing battle in a tight hallway, with the Cobra fighter throwing shuriken after shuriken at the G.I. Joe ninja, with the hero deflecting each one with his various weaponry.

Tom Cruise's One Shot Gets A New Title, First Footage Previewed

When it was announced last year that Tom Cruise would be playing Jack Reacher in an adaptation of Lee Child’s One Shot it caused an uproar. As described in the book, Reacher is a giant of a man, standing at 6’5” and weighing around 250 pounds. Tom Cruise – who is famous for being only 5’7” – doesn’t exactly fit the character in that sense. Now, however, the first footage from the movie has been shown and it turns out that Cruise might just pull it off.
