George Lucas Will Marry The Head Of Dreamworks Animation

Without Star Wars to look after anymore, George Lucas is committing to another long-term project: marriage. The sixty-eight-year-old director and producer popped the question to longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson, and she said yes, paving the way for one of the most high profile and powerful unions in Hollywood.
Lucas’ career is well known to most, but the forty-three-year-old Hobson has found her share of success, as well. She currently works as the animation chairman for DreamWorks and runs both an investment management firm and a mutual fund based out of Chicago. Clearly, neither of these two are after the other’s money, which is great considering Lucas just gave away billions of his loot to an educational fund following the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, no details about the impending ceremony including location, number of guests or even date have yet been announced. They could wind up getting married at the courthouse for all we know, but since they haven’t done it yet, it’s probably safe to assume at least a moderately-sized wedding will happen at some point in the future, especially since she’s never walked down the aisle before.
Pop Blend’s sincerest congratulations go out to Lucas and Hobson. They’ve been dating since 2006, and by all accounts, have found happiness and fulfillment in each other. Here’s to hoping their upcoming I-dos will last for decades to come and create a stable, loving environment that allows for continued career success.
