It's not often that you board an airplane to find a Broadway-level cast of musicians belting out a song from a hit musical. And that's pretty much what happened on a Brisbane flight headed back to Sydney, Australia. The Australian cast of the theatrical version of The Lion King filled the cabin with the opening song, "The Circle of Life," much to the amusement, curiosity or indifference of the passengers preparing for take-off.
Gawker ran the above video today (crediting Reddit for the find). And as you can see in the video, while these incredibly talented performers sing about finding our place on the path unwinding, some passengers are looking straight ahead, watching the spectacle, while others appear occupied with other things. I'd probably be preparing a request list. I'm a big fan of Rafiki's "He Lives In You" and Nala's "Shadowland," personally.
The video is hosted at the DisneyOnBroadway Youtube Channel and includes the caption:
After an amazing day at THE LION KING Brisbane season launch announcement, members of our Australian cast felt so elated they decided to sing the 'Circle of Life' prior to take off on their flight back to Sydney!
Just hearing the first few notes has me wishing I could see The Lion King on stage again. It's a pretty spectacular stage musical.
