One of the sleeper hits of last year's new TV shows was The CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Created by and starring the previously unknown Rachel Bloom, the series is a zany and wholly unique dark comedy which includes hilarious original musical numbers. As such, the cast for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's first season boasted a ton of musical talent, and now it appears that the new characters who will be returning for the show's sophomore season will be no different. Get ready you guys, because Season 2 is bringing a certain actress who is aca-awesome.
TV Line has just reported that Pitch Perfect actress Brittany Snow will be joining the cast of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in Season 2. While we don't know much about Snow's role in regards to episode count, we know that she is reportedly playing a beauty entrepreneur who comes into town and causes some serious trouble for Rachel Bloom's character Rebecca. She will also (not surprisingly) be singing her own musical number during her tenure on the series.
Brittany Snow's casting is sure to be exciting news for those familiar with her career. While currently most famous for portraying Chloe in both Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, she also has a ton of film and TV credits on her resume. She rose to the most fame when starring in John Tucker Must Die and the remake of Prom Night in the early 2000's. In TV, she had a recurring role in FX's Nip/Tuck, as well as the lead role in American Dreams.
Adding Brittany Snow to the cast of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend makes a great deal of sense for a few reasons. Obviously, she has some star power that could really bring in new audiences for the show's second season. While a critical darling, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend hasn't exactly seen the viewership that it deserves. Considering its on network TV, it only broke 1 million viewers a few times during Season 1.
Additionally, Brittany Snow has had to lend her vocal talent to a variety of projects in her career. Besides singing a ton of complicated arrangements in the Pitch Perfect franchise, she also sang an original song when she appeared as Amber Von Tussle in the Hairspray movie. Plus she sang her own version of "My Boyfriend's Back" during her time with American Dreams. Snow is pretty well known for singing in her acting projects, so it makes perfect sense to put her in a hilarious musical TV series like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Rachel Bloom seems particularly enthused to have Brittany Snow joining the cast, and she took to social media in a hilarious announcement video. Check it out.
