Former America's Next Top Model Contestant Shot In Deadly Houston Shooting

In news that doesn't work out positively for anyone involved, a shooting occurred in Houston on Sunday night that left multiple people dead, with others suffering non-fatal injuries. One of those shot in the incident was former America's Next Top Model contestant Brandy Rushing, but she thankfully survived the frightening experience.

This is no doubt one of the most horrifying ways for Brandy Rushing to make a return to headlines. According to news station KHOU, there were arguments between upstairs and downstairs neighbors in one building of a Harris County apartment complex, and a vehicle soon pulled up on the property, and two men got out and joined the arguments. When things got too heated, one suspect allegedly walked to the vehicle's trunk and pulled out an assault rifle, firing multiple rounds into the building and its inhabitants. Two people were reportedly killed in the heinous attack, while another four were injured, with Rushing being part of the latter group, as confirmed by TMZ.

Though Brandy Rushing did survive the currently unresolved shooting, things aren't all well. She's reportedly at a hospital in Houston, where she's in critical care. It's not clear where she was shot, nor how many times, so there's no telling just yet how serious those injuries are. One can only hope for the best case scenario.

A manhunt is currently underway for information about the three unidentified men who pulled up in the white vehicle, and their simple description at this point is just "heavy-set black men in their early 30's." A security guard was stationed at the apartments and was on duty at the time of the shooting.

Fans of America's Next Top Model will likely remember Brandy Rushing from her time spent on the show during its fourth cycle, back in 2005. Though her first impression was strong enough to make people think she'd last a while, her youthful inability to keep her attitude balanced ended up costing her a shot at fame, and she was in the first handful of contestants that got booted that season. She retained an ambition to make it in the modeling world, but things haven't exactly come to light in the most fruitful of ways. Check out some of her noteworthy, and not so noteworthy, moments from gone-and-back-again America's Next Top Model below.

We at CinemaBlend send our thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of the victims of this senseless crime. America's Next Top Model, which recently capped Season 23, will return to its still newish home of VH1 for Season 24 later this year, with Tyra Banks returning.
