The Walking Dead is currently in the midst of its whopping eighth season on AMC, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Because it seems like the zombie apocalypse could go on indefinitely, the millions of TWD fans out there should expect plenty more heartbreaking character deaths. While the community is collectively digesting Carl's shocking cliffhanger from the midseason finale, it wasn't too long ago that we were all mourning the loss of original character Glenn Rhee-- and actor Steven Yeun. Yeun has gone on to a ton of other projects, and seems to have a good sense of humor about his tenure on the apocalyptic drama. Case in point: a fan recently asked what Glenn should have on his tombstone, and his answer didn't disappoint. He actually signed the message on an issue of the comic book. Check it out.
Sorry Maggie fans out there, because it looks like their love affair and unborn child aren't part of Glenn's legacy. Instead, it's the Atlanta delivery boy's undying love for pizza. In this way, Glenn is like all of us.
Of course, Steven Yeun is just making a joke with his idea of what should be on Glenn's tombstone. As shared by the lucky fan who got the signature on Reddit, Yeun wrote a hilarious and personalized message on The Walking Dead issue 109. With no mention of his life or family, Steven Yeun simply wrote "Pizza forever", which in a way highlights Glenn's joy and lust for life. Even during the zombie apocalypse, Glenn remained hopeful. He found his one true love and a community to belong to, rather than simply getting by and delivering the occasional meat lover's pie. Or whatever pizza is Atlanta's favorite.
Glenn's tombstone has actually popped up in The Walking Dead TV series quite a bit in the last two seasons. Glenn and Abraham were both buried at The Hilltop, following their brutal slaying at the hands of Negan. And with Maggie firmly planted as the community's leader, she's been able to visit his resting place and reflect on their time together. Reflect, and plan her revenge and the eventual rise up against The Saviors.
It should be interesting how Glenn is honored as The Walking Dead moves forward. The Hilltop has become the last stand for the communities, and Maggie is still pregnant with his child. Will we ever meet baby Rhee? Only time will tell.
