FXX's irreverent comedy It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is slowly marching towards its Season 13 premiere, although it has been a question exactly who all will be returning for it. Dennis actor Glenn Howerton has been a big question mark for the season ever since he joined NBC's A.P. Bio, and now his appearance in the season is looking a little more certain. Dee actress Kaitlin Olson clarified some details on Howerton's presence in the upcoming season, and teased a little of what fans can expect, sort of:
I do know that Glenn Howerton is coming back for some episodes. I don't know the specifics, but I do know how he's being introduced back in, and it is absolutely hilarious.
There it is. Glenn Howerton is for sure going to appear in Season 13 of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and it's going to be hilarious. That's reassuring for fans to hear as, up to now, the cast had been dancing around the question on whether or not the Dennis actor would return to Philadelphia after leaving the city to go be a father to his child in L.A. The Wrap also reported Kaitlin Olson was very cagey in the rest of her response, which seems to imply the cast really doesn't want to spoil what it has in store for Dennis Reynolds.
Kaitlin Olson's statement spins a different narrative behind why the cast has been so quiet regarding Glenn Howerton's future presence in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Granted, it still could be because they aren't sure whether or not A.P. Bio will conflict with his availability, but Olsen's remark makes it sound more like they don't wish to spoil the upcoming storyline they have planned with Howerton. This quote gives a little more context to Howerton's tweet he posted in January, where he talked about Dennis returning and spoilers for the series:
So what is so amazing about Glenn Howerton's appearance in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 13 that the cast is desperate not to have it leak? This is just speculation, but it's possible that while Dennis is gone, Howerton could be returning for a guest role on the series as another character. For example, there was that one episode where Howerton played a sex offender who looked like Dennis, so maybe Charlie finds that dude and brings him into the bar in an attempt to recapture the group dynamic?
Fans might just have to wait until Season 13 to see what It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has planned for Dennis Reynolds, as the series' next season is planned to debut on FXX sometime in the future.
