So far, it seems like all of the rumors regarding the possible replacement judges for the U.S. version of The X Factor’s second season have been fairly tentative. This latest bit of news doesn’t confirm anything officially, but it does sound a lot more firm than previous reports, and it involves a very notable name.

Deadline is reporting that Britney Spears “will likely fill one of the vacant mentor/judge seats next to Simon Cowell on The X Factor." The site states that their sources say Spears has been offered $10 million for the job. That’s apparently “just” $2 million shy of what Jennifer Lopez earned for American Idol last season.

Since Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were cut loose from the singing competition series following its first season, many have been wondering who would be brought in to take their places. Britney Spears would certainly be a big get for the show. Not only is she a well known celebrity, but she’s also recorded a number of albums in recent years, including Femme Fatale, which debuted last year.?

While this bit of news is unconfirmed (officially), Deadline’s report sounds a bit more firm than previous rumors posted. We’ll have to wait and see if Fox issues any official news on the subject. ?
