Duuude, Showtime Wants Another Hit Of ‘Weeds’

Those desperate for another hit of the Showtime drama ‘Weeds,’ excellent news: the premium cable channel has ordered another season. Sweet.

According to TV.com, production is scheduled to begin next spring for season three, with 15 new episodes to air during the summer. ‘Weeds’ revolves around young L.A. suburban mother of two Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) who begins selling pot after the tragic death of her husband. The provocative drama has smoked up critical acclaim and respectable ratings, having drawn two million pairs of bloodshot eyeballs during its second season finale.

Says Showtime president Robert Greenblatt, “‘Weeds’ is quintessential Showtime: bold, provocative, premium television with production values at the top of the food chain." In other words, Oh yeah, Showtime’s got the good stuff, and we know you need it bad.

‘Weeds’ also stars comedian Kevin Nealon (of ‘Saturday Night Live’ fame) as Botwin’s forever-stoned accountant and advisor Doug Wilson. Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins, who played Tom Hank’s love interest in Big), PTA president, serves as Botwin’s chief nemesis.
