Eric Winter Signed On For Recurring Role In Good Christian Belles

The cast of ABC’s 2012 midseason dramedy series Good Christian Belles is already looking really pretty and based on the latest bit of casting news, it just got even prettier. Word is, Eric Winter is set to appear in a recurring role. Fans of Moonlight and The Mentalist may recognize him.

GCB stars Leslie Bibb as Amanda Vaughn, a former “mean girl” from Texas who returns to her hometown as an adult and must face the drama she left behind. Kristin Chenoweth plays Carlene Cockburn (amazing name), a sneaky woman who doesn’t love that Amanda’s back in town. According to Deadline, Winter will appear in the show to play Carlene’s brother Luke. He’s described as the black sheep of the family, a Green Democrat, intelligent and charming. He’s also a potential love interest to Amanda. From the sounds of it, he’ll be bringing a bit of conflict, especially if he gets involved with Amanda. Deadline says Luke and Carlene are different but “very close,” so my guess is Carlene wouldn’t be happy to see her brother falling for her rival/frenemy Amanda.

Winter played the role of Agent Craig O’Laughlin in The Mentalist. He also played a recurring role on CBS’ shortlived vampire series Moonlight as ADA Benjamin Talbot. More recently, he starred opposite Lauren Ambrose in a Fox pilot called Weekends at Bellevue. Given the pilot didn’t receive a series order, it’s good to see Winter's found somewhere else to land on network TV. It’ll be interesting to see how this role works out for him and whether his character sticks around beyond a few episodes.
