Ethan Suplee, John Amos, And Sydney Park Join Martin Lawrence Pilot At CBS

The Martin Lawrence cop comedy pilot over at CBS has added three new members to the cast. Lawrence’s middle-aged rookie cop character has got himself a new boss, a new partner, and a new 16-year-old daughter as well. The trio will be played by John Amos, Ethan Suplee, and Sydney Park, respectively – a pretty good cast seem to be coming together here.

The comedy pilot stars Lawrence as a 46-year-old man who decides to take on a new career as a cop after the death of his wife leaves him to raise two teenagers on his own. Sounds like a seriously funny storyline – after you get past the widowed man and the orphaned children, that is. Adorable, perky Sydney Park will play one of the orphaned duo; she’s been cast as Lawrence’s 16-year-old daughter, Kim. She appears to be an up-and-coming actress, and also has a role on a couple of episodes of ABC Family’s unfortunately titled Baby Daddy.

Also cast, according to Deadline is My Name is Earl alum Ethan Suplee. He’s set to play Travis, new partner to Lawrence’s character Ty and is described as earnest and eager. The role doesn’t sound like a stretch for Suplee.

Finally, John Amos will play Ty’s new boss, Captain Lorenzo, who is a cool and collected straight shooter who apparently collects antiques when he’s not dealing with 45-year-old rookies. Amos has guested on 30 Rock, Lie to Me, and did a three-episode arc on Two and a Half Men back when Charlie Sheen was still one of the men in question.
