Footage From SyFy's Peter Pan Prequel

I can’t get enough of Peter Pan. I love J.M. Barrie’s brilliantly cynical novel. I’ve seen the Disney version at least twenty-five times. Finding Neverland owns. Hook should be required viewing. At the risk of admitting just how crazy I am, let me divulge the following ludicrous fact about myself: I have a goddamn tattoo of Peter Pan’s hat on my leg. It’s not the only one. I have other non-ridiculous artwork on my body, but as Peter Pan goes, Michael Jackson and I had that in common. It’s not even the character himself. I just love everything about J.M. Barrie’s world. I love that the Lost Boys fell out of their cribs at the hospital and that the father traces all the family’s problems back to having a dog as a nanny. I truly can’t get enough, which is why I always get excited whenever a new Neverland project is announced. Cue edge of my seat anticipation.

According to Sky, the first real footage for SyFy’s upcoming prequel miniseries entitled Neverland has just dropped, and I’m pleasantly surprised. From Tin Man director Nick Willing, it stars Rhys Ifans as Captain Jimmy Hook in an epic four hour backstory that explores how exactly Peter Pan and the Lost Boys found their way on Neverland. Apparently, there’s more to it than flying second to the right and straight on til morning.

No word on an official release date, but it should air on SyFy sometime this year. Here’s a look at the footage…
