Hollywood Treasure Preview: Movie Memorabilia Is On Display In Syfy's Series

Set to premiere on Syfy tomorrow night is the network's returning unscripted series Hollywood Treasure, a show that's likely to appeal to move fans as much as it does collectors. The clip we have to share with you from the season premiere features a very recognizable prop from a well known movie. That's probably putting it mildly.

As a movie fan, I'd probably be just as excited to see a prop from one of my favorite movies as I would to see one of the stars. So I have absolutely no trouble seeing the draw in a show like Hollywood Treasure. The unscripted series follow Joe Maddalena, the owner of Profiles in History, as he hunts down valuable movie memorabilia. He participates in auctions and meets with movie stars to talk shop.

The clip below has Joe looking at a very valuable piece of movie history. One of the pairs of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.

I had the opportunity to screen the full premiere episode of Season 2 and the only negative thing I can say about it is that I couldn't reach through the screen to touch some of the props and costumes featured on the show. What works nicely about it is Joe's personality and evident knowledge of movie history. The second season premiere does a nice job of following Maddalena around as he goes about his work and also clueing viewers in to the value and history of the props and costumes he's dealing with.

Also, without giving away too much, I'll add that fans of the Lord of the Rings films will likely want to tune in tomorrow night to catch the premiere.

Hollywood Treasure Season 2 premieres Tuesday, May 22 at 10:00 p.m. ET on Syfy.
