E!’s pop-culture clip show The Soup just celebrated its 300th episode and there will be many more for Joel McHale as he just renewed his contract with the network.

According to Deadline, McHale signed a two-year deal with E! to continue his role as the snarky host of The Soup.

While this certainly isn’t disappointing news, I’ll admit, I’m a little surprised (or maybe just relieved). When we spoke with Joel McHale at Comic Con in San Diego back in July, he mentioned that he was in talks to renew his contract with The Soup but seemed somewhat vague on whether he was really looking to continue on with the show or if he was thinking it was time to move on. McHale also mentioned that due to his busier schedule (thanks in part to his work on NBC’s hilarious comedy series Community), he relies a lot on the writers of The Soup.

So, while it seems he’s got a lot on his plate (Deadline also mentioned a number of movies he has coming out next year), it doesn’t appear as though he’s looking to free up his schedule any time soon. In fact, if he takes on any more jobs, he might truly be rivaling his nemesis Ryan Seacrest in the employment department.
