SNL 40 has added some huge names to the special NBC episode. We’ve known for a couple days that Eddie Murphy will be returning to Saturday Night Live for the first time in over 30 years to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary, but during the Super Bowl on Sunday, NBC released not one, but two, brand new promos for SNL 40, which revealed a slew of new names who have been added to the SNL 40 cast. Among them are Murphy, Bill Murray, Justin Timberlake, Emma Stone, Tom Hanks and many, many more.
The first SNL 40 promo dropped early on Sunday night, revealing a ton of huge names. Even crazier, even more names were added with the second Saturday Night Live Season 40 special ad. This includes a slew of musical guests and hosts who have made a huge impact over the years. A lot of these are perennial favorites on the show, people like Justin Timberlake, Tom Hanks and Alec Baldwin, who have hosted five or more times apiece. Likewise, there are some unexpected names too. Who would have thought Kanye West and Peyton Manning would take time to tip their hats?
In addition to all of the huge guest stars, SNL 40 will also feature some popular cast members from throughout the show’s past. Big names from the seventies, the eighties, the nineties and the first part of the century will all be back. Here’s the list of names that were dropped during the Super Bowl.
If you haven’t been keeping tabs on the late night sketch series, Saturday Night Live is 40 this year, and we’ve known for months that NBC would be celebrating the special occasion with SNL 40, a special episode featuring some of the key featured players, guest hosts and musical guests who have popped up on the late night sketch series over the years. Recently, NBC also released a trailer for the special, featuring all of the different title fonts for the sketch series over the years. At the time, we also learned that the February special will run for 3 hours.
You can catch SNL 40 on February 15th. In the meantime, here’s a look at the first promo, which pays homage to Studio 8H and Saturday Night Live.
