When it comes to the major awards, Sofia Vergara is one of those TV actors who's often nominated but rarely seems to win. But when it comes to the bank, Vergara continues to come out on top. For the third year in a row, Sofia Vergara has been listed #1 by Forbes among the highest earning actresses in television.
From what Forbes reports, Sofia Vergara's business savviness has a lot to do with the whopping $37 million as the mentioned sum she's earned. That's factoring in the $325,000 Vergara makes per episode of ABC's Modern Family, and the various product endorsements and licensing deals she has in place, including Diet Pepsi, CoverGirl, AT&T and Synthroid, a drug used to treat Hypothyroidism. She also promotes Head & Shoulders...
Sofia Vergara beats out the following top Female TV earners in 2014 according to Forbes:
2. Mariska Hargitay ($13 million)
3. Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting
4. Julianna Marguilies
4. Ellen Pompeo
4. Cobie Smulders
5. Alyson Hannigan
6. Amy Poehler
7. Mindy Kaling
8. Kerry Washington
8. Zooey Deschanel
8. Courteney Cox
9. Claire Danes
10: Lena Dunham
Forbes' gallery of top earning females includes their estimated earnings, and as you can see by Mariska Hargitay's $13 million, Vergara's ahead of the pack by a fair margin. And you can see the list of highest paid male actors in TV here. Ashton Kutcher tops that list with a sum of $26 million estimated gross between June 2013 and June 2014. While that number's considerably lower than Vergara's $37 million, the male actors have the women beat, with their total being $214 million combined, by comparison to the females' total of $140 million.
As for Vergara, she's obviously doing pretty well for herself financially, between Modern Family's continued success and her other business ventures, including co-founding Latin World Entertainment. On the awards side, Vergara has yet to secure herself her own Emmy or Golden Globe Award. She's been nominated for her supporting role in Modern Family every year at the Globes and the Emmys since 2010, with a total of eight nominations between the two awards, and she has yet to win one. Of course, the repeat nominations are an indication that she's still catching people's attention for her humorous portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, and she continues to top Forbes list of moneymakers, and that's an impressive accomplishment in itself.
We'll see Sofia Vergara back in Modern Family when the series returns to ABC for Season 6 on Wednesday, September 24.
