Rock Of Ages Director/Choreographer Adam Shankman To Helm An NBC Comedy Pilot

While Adam Shankman’s background may feature an impressive list of choreography credits, the man holds many titles, including director. He’s directed episodes of Glee, an ep of Modern Family, and he’s helming the upcoming film Rock of Ages, for which he’s also the choreographer. Based on this news, soon he’ll be adding directing a pilot for NBC to his list of credits.

Per Deadline, Shankman is set to direct NBC’s untitled Hilary Winston single-camera comedy pilot. The project follows a recently-dumped woman who looks to her co-workers to help her overcome her shyness and “plot her revenge” (presumably on the fiancé that cut her loose).

Shankman has numerous TV credits on his resume. Those who watch So You Think You Can Dance will likely recognize Shankman as one of the judges on the series. And in addition to directing work on Glee and Modern Family, he also choreographed Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s excellent musical episode “Once More with Feeling” as well as choreographing work for an episode of Friends (“The One with All the Jealousy”). Hopefully this pilot will benefit from Shankman’s experience with comedies and we’ll hear good news about the project.
