Silverman Set For Second Season

It appears ‘The Sarah Silverman Program’ is comedy gold. Cable laugh factory Comedy Central just ordered a second season of the hit show revolving around comedian Sarah Silverman who plays a character named, uh, Sarah Silverman.

The new, edgy program is one of Central’s rare attempts at targeting females instead of males, and so far has done a great job at pulling in both sexes as well as decent numbers. Variety.com reports that the show averaged 1.7 million total viewers after ending its rookie season last week. Next fall the Jew-joke cracking standup star will get a chance with seven more episodes, with seven more eps to run at a later date.

The offbeat show "Bound to make you feel better about your own life." according to its signature, can be seen on Comedy Central after ‘South Park’ and before ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ Thursdays at 10 PM ET.

Silverman kept busy up to and even during filming of her show. Her credits include School for Scoundrels alongside Billy Bob Thornton, There’s Something About Mary, as well as School of Rock with Jack Black. Incidentally, Silverman always struck me as a female Jack Black, except without all the extra baggage if you know what I mean.

While Sarah Silverman doesn’t seem to have an official homepage, check out the page for her hilarious theatrical production ‘Jesus is Magic’. Also here is a rather funny clip from her show I like to call The Shart Incident. Hurry up and watch it before mean old Viacom takes it down:
