The Sing-Off Gets An Extra Half Hour

About a week ago, I complained to my roommate about how my boss here at TV Blend, Kelly West, was really getting into A Capella via NBC’s surprise hit The Sing-Off. Turns out he’s on board too and somehow roped me into a double date to see Straight No Chaser perform live. Turns out I’m a jackass and just missed the boat on this one. A Capella is apparently awesome. America, like me, is slowly coming around, and with the Sing-Off trending in the right direction, NBC executives have decided to expand the popular program by a half an hour for the upcoming season finale.

According to Deadline, NBC will also use the show to launch its upcoming midseason replacement Perfect Couples. The sitcom which will later move to Thursdays at 8:30 will immediately follow The Sing-Off’s conclusion at 9:30 on Monday. Did you get all that? The Sing-Off will air at 8:00 on Monday for an extra half hour, followed by the debut of a romantic comedy at 9:30.

Last Monday, The Sing-Off posted nearly ten million viewers, its highest total ever. Look for the finale to improve that figure, as well as a new season sooner rather than later.
