Steve Carell Leaving The Office?

Could The Office survive without Michael Scott? Rumor has it, Steve Carell is ready to move on from The Office, which could mean one of TV’s most hilarious work-places could be short one bumbling boss.
According to Access Hollywood, Office star Steve Carrell told BBC Radio that next fall’s seventh season could be his last. His contract is up then and according to what he said, he thinks that might be his last year.
With his movie career continuing to thrive, with films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and more recently Date Night under his belt, its understandable that Carell might be ready to step away from the role that helped launch him into stardom. The question is, would The Office be able to survive without him? Carell’s role as the idiot boss Michael Scott is one of the cornerstones of the series. While I’m sure they’d be able to write in a new character to take the wheel at Dunder-Mifflin Scranton, I’d be interested to see whether that’s the route they’d take or whether we should start preparing ourselves for the seventh season of The Office to be the series’ last. As much of an Office fans as I am and as sad as I’d be to see the show go, it might be better for the comedy series to end while it's still good rather than stay on past its prime as other shows have in the past.
