Summer TV Preview: Greek on ABC Family

College is crazy. If a person wanted to make undergrad life even crazier, one might suggest rushing a sorority or fraternity. Greek life adds a whole new level of social activity to college and ABC Family plans to celebrate that with their new dramedy, ‘Greek,’ set to air in July.

The series will center on the fictional Cyprus-Rhodes University and follow a group of students who decide to dive into the Greek system headfirst. ‘Greek’ was created by Patrick Sean Smith (he wrote a couple episodes of ‘Everwood’) and stars Spencer Grammer (daughter of Kelsey Grammer), Scott Michael Foster, Jake McDorman, Dilshad Vadsaria, Paul James, Amber Stevens and Clark Duke.

The series will premiere on ABC Family on July 9th at 9:00 p.m.. A source also informed us that the pilot episode of the series will be available to download for free on iTunes next week.

In an effort to get viewers involved, ABC Family will be launching virtualrush.com next month to support the series. People will be able to join the Cyprus-Rhodes Greek system by creating an online profile through and taking a personality quiz to see which character from the show they’re most similar to. They can then virtually rush that character’s sorority or fraternity. There are six different houses, ranging from the slacker-types to the super-girly girls. Users will be able to interact with each other through the site as well as rank their fellow rushes. Prizes will be awarded. Only people 18 or older will be allowed to rush but younger fans will be allowed to view the site, comment and vote for their favorite pictures and videos.
