Fans awaiting their first full look at the new animated adventure in the TRON universe don't have to wait any longer. The upcoming series called TRON: Uprising still doesn't hit television screens for another month but the prelude, TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning, is already online and almost a full week before its premiere. Disney has uploaded the entire 30 minute episode to introduce the ensuing series that is set between 1982's TRON and 2010's TRON: Legacy.
The animated midquel features an impressive voice cast including Elijah Wood and Mandy Moore (as well as TRON himself, Bruce Boxleitner) it's a pretty savvy move to make the entire prelude available to everyone online. It's become common practice for shows to put their pilot episodes online in order to drum up anticipation for the rest of the series but since Disney produced the prelude, it doesn't even have to use one of the actual episodes of Uprising in order to try and build an early following. Without further adieu, here is TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning,
Okay, so TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning isn't exactly available to everyone - damn region restrictions - so for those that find themselves unable to watch (like me) you'll have to wait until Friday night. Disney has been teasing TRON: Uprising for some time, releasing a gorgeous second trailer for the series just last month (joining an equally gorgeous first tease), but I suppose those short looks kind of pale in comparison to getting to watch the prelude. Beggars can't be choosers.
TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning introduces us to the series hero named, well, Beck. He's a mechanic living in a far corner of 'The Grid' called Argon City and after Clu's men have his friend Bodhi derezzed, Beck looks for justice and ends up being trained by the legendary TRON. Suddenly the young hero finds himself fronting a new rebellion. Beck's Beginning airs on Friday, May 18 at 9:30 p.m. ET on the Disney Channel. TRON: Uprising premieres on Thursday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney XD. It stars Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner.
