TV Recap: Big Brother 8 - Week 10 Veto (UPDATED)

And another one bites the dust. Once again, the Donatos proved to be a forced to be reckoned with (do people still reckon anymore?) as the final four houseguests were narrowed down to the final three in a special live episode of Big Brother. Zach talked a lot of talk in his nomination speech when he put up Dick and Daniele, but as he and everyone else knew, it would all come down to the Veto this week. No matter who the nominees were, the person with the Power of Veto would have the final say in who was evicted.

Before we get to what’s going on in the house, lets talk about what’s going on in sequester. Finally, we get to see sequester! As usual, the evicted houseguests have been shipped off to paradise to unwind a bit and prepare for the finale. Dustin arrived and enjoyed the waterslide and gorgeous pool. When Jen arrived, she and Dustin seemed happy to see each other (despite complaining about it on camera, in private). Amber showed up next and then of course, Jessica. They were all surprised to see Eric walk into the house moments later. Eric put in the DVD so they could view the fast-forward eviction episode. Jen looked bored and uninterested. Eric confirmed that he has not told the evicted houseguests about the America’s Player twist. I’m sure we can expect that to be revealed at the finale.

Daniele and Dick didn’t take Zach’s comments about being “the muscle” all that seriously. They also made a joke of his saying Jameka restored his faith in God. Whether or not Zach’s words were true, he did take the time to pray with Jameka after the two of them finished quizzing each other over the events that have taken place in the house since day one.

For the Veto competition, the houseguests were separated by huge walls set up in the backyard. On the walls were facts from the house like “was on slop for two weeks” or “was only HoH one time.” The houseguests had to put pictures of the faces of the other houseguests between the applicable facts. Then they had to spin a wheel to point to the houseguest. A separate arrow on the wheel pointed to a number. They had to place that number on the wall and if all of their facts were correct, the numbers would be in the order of the number of seconds they’ve been in the house.

Daniele had the right idea by dealing with the facts first and the wheel later. While the other houseguests positioned the faces and turned the wheel each time they put a face up so they were constantly repositioning their numbers. Zach seemed to figure out that this was a poor strategy but it was too late. Daniele got her numbers in the right order and won the Veto.

She screamed and ran around the walls trying to find her father. Dick celebrated with her and then celebrated some more afterwards. By the cocky way he gloated, you would’ve thought he won the Veto, himself. He told Zach off for it and in the diary room, announced that he and Daniele had won the whole thing. Apparently, he’s positive that there is no way, even if it’s him and Zach in the final two, that a Donato won’t take the grand prize.

Jameka knew she was going home and accepted the defeat graciously. The live Veto ceremony took place with Daniele choosing to use the Veto to save her father. She admitted that there wasn’t much value in this move, seeing as she knew her dad wouldn’t evict her but she wanted to return the favor. Dick was surprised by this but pleased nonetheless. Dick was then asked to cast his vote and of course, he voted to evict Jameka.

Jameka hugged everyone and said her goodbyes before heading out the door to be interviewed by Julie. She watched the goodbye messages then received the good news that her sister had the baby (and they showed a picture of the adorable little infant).

The remaining three houseguests were lead outside to start part 1 of the final Head of Household competition. They were asked to stand on perches in a fake pumpkin patch and hold on to a key that was hanging down. While they stood there, a bar began rotating from the center of where the three were standing. As the bar comes around, the houseguests have to jump over it. From what I’ve seen on the live feeds, it looks like the houseguests are being occasionally drenched in water.

If they let go of their key, fall off their perch or the bar hits them, they’re out. Whoever wins this competition will go on to the final HoH comp. The two houseguests who don’t win this one will compete in round 2. The two winners will face off on Thursday night and whoever wins will decide who they want to take with them to the final two. It’s been over an hour since the episode and so far, all three houseguests are still up on their perches.

Personally, I’m hoping Zach wins tonight so that he can compete against whichever Donato wins round two. I’d love to see Zach win the final Head of Household because frankly, the Donatos’ cockiness makes it very difficult for me to root for either of them. Zach’s shown more personality in the last week or so than we’ve seen from him all season. Despite his foolishness in not using the Veto last week, I’d still like to see him make it to the final two.

This poll is no longer available.

Update: As of 12:10 a.m. EST, all three houseguests are still up on their perches. They've been sprayed with water a number of times and sprayed with some mucky looking stuff at least once. Daniele seems to be having the hardest time due to the cold water. She's been shivering a lot and even cried for a bit. About five minutes ago, Dick started going off on a rant against Zach. He's made fun of his penis size, called him a pervert, called him a racist and made fun of his teeth. Daniele giggled during the "You have a tiny penis" rant. Zach hasn't responded to Dick's remarks at all and appears to be holding steady for now.

Spoiler Warning - if you don't want to know who won round 1 of the HoH competition, read no further! From the feed reports, it seems as though all three hung on for hours. At some point, Daniele gave up or was disqualified and it came down to Dick and Zach. Eventually, Dick gave up and Zach won. This means Dick and Daniele will face off in part 2 and no matter what, we'll see Zach compete against a Donato on Thursday night.
