TV Recap: Las Vegas – 2 on 2

Danny and Mike find themselves smack dab in the middle of the “Las Vegas 2 on 2 Basketball Tournament,” but they didn’t count on people betting millions of dollars on them. Because, you know, betting on sports events is illegal in the state of Nevada. Riiiiight…

Anyway, things get really crazy when Danny’s grade-school buddy – the one who always had his back in those bully brawls – begs him to lose. Otherwise, the friend is likely going to end up in the trunk of a car with a bullet in his head. There are some tough hombres in the non-sports-betting state of Nevada.

Of course, Danny thinks he’s telling the truth and decides to throw the game. Imagine his surprise when the buddy is the tough hombre who’s knocking off people and stashing them in trunks. Cooper figured it out. I guess he has Danny’s back against the bullies now.

I was oh so wrong last week when I said Mike and Piper had their drunken marriage annulled. They didn’t. And now they’re trying to figure out what to do with their newfound nuptials. Piper’s miffed that Mike wants to take things slow. “I marry a man, and he acts like a woman?” she whines to Delinda.

Not only that, when Piper asks Mike to help with a difficult concierge request – she’s up for Concierge of the Year – he says no. So she refuses to have sex with him. Ever! “Now you only wanna have sex with me if I do you a favor?” he says. “Hello!” she says. “That’s marriage!”

Yeah, well, he decides to help her after all, and then books a suite at The Palms, only she’s too distracted by this concierge contest – which she ends up winning – to participate. But, hopefully, they won’t string this romantic non-interlude out forever.

The writing on this show continues to kill, and the characters just get better and better – from Mike making Danny “pinky-swear” to not tell about his wedded bliss to Sam crushing on Piper for using her to get ahead. And what a coup to have a bunch of new episodes stockpiled during the writer’s strike.
