Better known for playing Jack Harkness on the Doctor Who series Torchwood, or - more recently - recurring at Malcolm Merlyn on the CW's Arrow, John Barrowman is also known to be a pretty great singer. That and his charismatic nature should make him a pretty fantastic fit to host a singing competition series. That's reportedly what Barrowman's set to do for ABC, possibly as soon as this summer.

EW says ABC is planning to air a celebrity singing competition series called Sing Your Face Off, which would feature known celebrities- mentioned names include Sebastian Bach, Jon Lovitz, Landry Fields, China Anne McCain and Lisa Rinna - attempting to show off their musical abilities. Set to judge the series are pop star Debbie Gibson and former SNL player Darrell Hammond.

As EW points out, Barrowman has actually appeared on several unscripted shows in the U.K., so hosting a competition like this wouldn't exactly be new territory for him.

As a fan of Barrowman from Torchwood, I love this news. Not only is he funny and charismatic, but he demonstrated his vocal abilities - much to the amusement and musical response of the audience - at Comic Con a few years back.

EW says Sing Your Face Off is based on an international format and is set to air on ABC this year. There's no air date yet, but it sounds like ABC's looking to get the six-episode singing competition on the air at some point this summer.
