While Janina Gavankar and Scott Foley both appeared numerous times in the current season of True Blood, I'm fairly certain they never shared a scene together. There's been so much going on in the series this season, that it would be very easy for two recurring characters to avoid each other's paths. But we may be seeing the two on screen together when Fox's new comedy The Goodwin Games airs. Foley is among the stars of the comedy, and it's just been announced that Gavankar will play a recurring role in the series.
Set for Midseason 2013, The Goodwin Games comes from How I Met Your Mother executive producers Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris, and follows three grown siblings (Becki Newton, Scott Foley and TJ Miller) who are forced to reunite when their father dies and leaves them his fortune. TVLine posted the news that Janina Gavankar has been cast in a recurring role on the comedy series, though the site offers no details as to the nature of her role.
I have to give Gavankar credit for her work in True Blood. As a shape-shifter, she's frequently morphing in and out of animal form, which (particularly this season) occasionally leaves her standing around naked for scenes. Few actors probably have a job that involves having to portray a panicked mother trying to get her her daughter while being naked. She will presumably get to wear clothes when she appears in the Fox series, which I'm guessing will be a nice change for her. While she's been featured a bit more prominently in the HBO drama True Blood this season, Gavankar is also no stranger to comedy, having played the role of Shiva (the person after whom the league trophy is named) in FX's fantasy football comedy series The League.
