While one of the HBO's comediennes is back on the air with Lena Dunham returning to the schedule two Sundays ago with the Season 2 premiere of Girls, her partner in crime, or at least in gender, genre and Golden Globe nominations, Julia-Louis Dreyfus has yet to come back to office. The 'sister' shows (now that's perhaps too much emphasis on their shared lack of a y-chromosome) debuted their first seasons at the same time, back to back in fact, but there's still some waiting to be done until Veep starts its second season.
But by all means, let the campaigning begin! it looks like a lot of work for the copywriter and typographer. Oh, and somebody better call hair and make-up for the first official spot for Veep Season 2. Uh, maybe a different hair and make-up since she kind of looks like Lord Helmet.
A comfy chair! To be fair, that's hair does look exhausting. Armando Iannucci's political satire squarely aimed at the highest offices of the American government may not have reached the heights of The Thick of It, his multiple award winning British predecessor in a similar politically scathing vein, but the first season of Veep showed a tremendous amount of promise and could easily wind up rivalling its cross-Atlantic counterpart.
They just need their own (or the actual) Peter Ciapaldi to put them over the top. Maybe some high profile cameos could collapse Veep with the behind the scenes shenanigans going on on both sides of the pond in the Academy Award nominated In The Loop. Whatever causes more intrigue. And by intrigue, I mean idiocy. The second season of Veep starts in April on HBO. Created by Armando Iannucci, the series stars Julia Louis Dreyfus, Matt Walsh, Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Sufe Bradshaw, Tim Simons and Reid Scott.
