Everest Synopsis
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal. They are joined by Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly and Thomas M. Wright.

Everest is directed by Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) and produced by Working Title Films' Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek Pictures' Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes and Kormákur.

Universal Pictures and Cross Creek Pictures' presentation of Everest—in association with Walden Media—is adapted for the screen by Mark Medoff (Children of a Lesser God) and Oscar® winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).

The film shot on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecittŕ Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the U.K. Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

That’s the fierce Jason Clarke leading the expedition into the harsh terrain, on their way through one of the worst snowstorms in recorded history. The true story also stars Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a pretty unpleasant go of it for our intrepid explorers

Josh Brolin And Jake Gyllenhaal In Talks To Scale Everest Josh Brolin And Jake Gyllenhaal In Talks To Scale Everest
Everest, unlike the Doug Liman project, will thankfully not just be an origin story about the first people to climb the world’s tallest peaks of Mount Everest, as inspiring a story as that may be.

Christian Bale To Challenge Tom Hardy With His Own Mount Everest Movie Christian Bale To Challenge Tom Hardy With His Own Mount Everest Movie
Whatever it is that drives Bale to act, part of it includes self-punishment-- and he's aiming to do it again in another movie based on a true story, this time set atop Mount Everest. Remember Jon Krakauer's ubiquitous book Into Thin Air? According to Deadline the story behind it will soon become a movie, with Bale now in talks to star

Tom Hardy May Star As George Mallory In Doug Liman's Everest Tom Hardy May Star As George Mallory In Doug Liman's Everest
Edmund Hillary, with the help up Tenzing Norgay, famously became the first man to ever reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953, but one can't ignore the efforts that George Mallory made before him. The British mountaineer was the first to ever try and scale the world's tallest mountain, attempting the climb three times before he died doing so in 1924 (disappearing along with climbing partner Andrew "Sandy" Irvine and lost until their bodies were discovered in 1999).

Doug Liman Picks Up Another Project, Will Climb Mount Everest For Sony Doug Liman Picks Up Another Project, Will Climb Mount Everest For Sony
You may know the name Sir Edmund Hillary as the first (white) man to climb Mount Everest, but decades earlier an Englishman named George Mallory made three attempts at the feat; though he died on the mountain on the last try, many believe he may have made it to the top after all. Even if his accomplishment doesn't seem all that stunning in retrospect, there's all kinds of historical context that makes the story meaningful
