Albert Hammond Jr., guitarist for post-punk garage rockers the Strokes, recently announced plans for the release of a solo album entitled Yours To Keep, available in the UK on October 9 on Rough Trade. recently reported that while he is supplementing a solo effort, he remains a full-time member of The Strokes.

The 10-track album, produced by Greg Lattimer of Thin Lizard Dawn, was recorded at New York’s Electric Ladyland Studios with a pu-pu platter of talent including guest bits from Ben Kweller, Sean Lennon, Mikki James of Thin Lizard Dawn Fountains of Wayne's Jody Porter and Sammy James Jr. of the Mooney Suzuki. Kweller’s bassist Josh Lattanzi and Adam Green’s drummer Matt Romano will back Hammond’s vocals.

The Strokes’ manager, Ryan Gentles, who also appears on Hammond’s debut album, tells some live shows are a possibility. The album, he describes, "Sounds like Albert. If you don't know him, you just have to listen to the record, and you will know him intimately."

Although Hammond has mainly been responsible for rhythm and lead guitar during his time with the band, he has been known to write several songs ("Swiss Beats," "Holland," and "By The Way"), which have been slightly altered to appear on his solo album, under different titles. listed the following tracklist for Hammond’s Yours To Keep:

Meanwhile, the Strokes, who are wrapping up an Australian tour before heading to Mexico and the U.S., will be opening for Tom Petty in September. The band recently celebrated their fifth anniversary of their debut album, Is This It, and is currently touring to support its third album, First Impressions of Earth.
