Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Animations Will Be Different From Single-Player

published: 2011-07-04 15:20:58
Apparently DICE has to make the PR rounds and talk about stuff most numbskulls could figure out with just a handful of IQ points. Still, there are some gamers out there who are either willfully dense or have never played anything other than Call of Duty, and so DICE has to explain every single little detail of Battlefield 3, sort of like trying to get a Republican to understand that when people lose jobs it doesn’t mean they’re trying to steal, mooch or leech from the state.

Anyways, according to Edge, [via VideoGamer.com] Lars Gustavsson, the lead designer for the multiplayer portion of Battlefield 3 explained how the multiplayer animations will differ slightly from the single-player animations, insofar that all the Hollywood over-dramaticism won’t be included in the multiplayer, saying…
"In multiplayer, we do an additional pass for animation. In single player you don't mind if a guard up on a balcony does a Hollywood death - stumbling around a bit before falling over."… "We're more than willing to make differences to deliver the best experience in [single and multiplayer]".

The same will apply to entering and exiting vehicles; there’s nothing more annoying then getting shot in your butt while carefully climbing into a tank…not to mention the embarrassment factor.

Still, many of the animations will stay intact for multiplayer, so you don’t have to worry about DICE making the change to cut corners, it’s more-so for playability purposes.

You can pre-order Battlefield 3 to receive some extra gameplay incentives or just wait it out and purchase the game when it becomes available October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
