One of the many overlooked titles that Microsoft announced at this year’s E3 is a Kinect platform-shooter called The Gunstringer, from developers Twisted Pixel Games. Basically, it’s a platform title that sees players controlling the protagonist as if he were a marionette. Now that’s original.
Of course, in order to pull off this feat gamers will have to use Kinect to control the Gunstringer through a series of complex Western-themed levels, fighting off bad guys along the way. As stated in the press release… The Gunstringer marries Twisted Pixel's beloved story, character gameplay and polish with fresh gameplay mechanics. From the feel of actually puppeteering a character through a variety of 3D and 2D gameplay styles, all the way to modern twists like competing against your friends via leaderboards and drop in and drop out local co-op support, The Gunstringer provides players with fun gameplay experiences that haven't been seen before.Well it’s true…I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anything quite as original as playing a game as a puppeteer. Regardless, the game offers up collectibles, achievements, leaderboards and plenty of other goodies to keep gamers coming back for more. A complete fact sheet of features can be found below, along with some E3 screenshots. The Gunstringer is due out this summer, exclusively for the Xbox Kinect.
