ArenaNet has a new Twilight Assault event planned for their MMO Guild Wars 2. Before they launch the event, though, they're inviting players to try out the game for free.
Starting on September 27th at 09:01 CEST, players throughout North America and Europe can download and play the game for free. There's no mention of what restrictions, if any, you'll encounter. The free-play period will then wrap up on October 4th at 08:59 CEST.
After that point, you'll have to buy the game (there's no monthly subscription) in order to continue your journey. During the free trial week, ArenaNet will offer the game at a discount. This discount will last until October 7th if you need some extra time to decide.
Midway through the trial week, ArenaNet will begin the Twilight Assault event. Starting on October 1st, players will be able to travel to the Twilight Arbor and join forces with Caithe in her battle against Scarlet. The event will unlock a new level 80 path within the Arbor filled with traps, guards and other dangers.
ArenaNet is including new loot in this adventure as well. Players can earn a Slickpack back item as well as a pet based on one of the Arbor's powerful enemies. Your foes will have a chance to drop new types of Nightmare weapons with unique names and a blue glow. Aether Key Pieces scattered throughout the Maguuma Jungle can be used to create keys to open Aether Chests.
The development team will give players an early look at the Twilight Assault content during a livestream event on September 30th. This event, hosted on ArenaNet's Twitch channel, will kick off at 12PM PDT.
Last week ArenaNet launched the Tequatl Rising event for GW2 which centered around a very angry and very undead dragon. During this event, ArenaNet is also rolling out a new Looking for Group tool to make it easier for players to find traveling companions.
