With Sony basically bending the entertainment and tech sections of the internet to its knees, Nintendo didn't want to be left out in the cold, like a meth-addicted hobo on a cold New Jersey night. To help bring some of the focus back to the Big 'N', Capcom announced that one of the most highly anticipated games for the Wii U has a playable demo available right now and it's free to download from the Nintendo eShop.
As noted in the press release...
The free single player demo will feature two full quests, one for beginner players and another for intermediate hunters, in addition to 12 different weapon options for players to choose for their battle. Players will have to brave the elements of the frozen tundra against the fierce Lagombi and take the fight against the aquatic Plesioth on land AND into the water!
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a new-gen HD update of the original Monster Hunter Tri for the Nintendo Wii. If you've always wanted to play that game but couldn't get past the graphics, now is the perfect time to hop into the game given that it brings all the amazing, hard-hitting, monster hunting action into the HD era with improved framerates, better special effects and cleaner resolutions for both the textures and props.
The game itself basically sees the player creating a hunter and entering into a dangerous and untamed world where they must hack, slash, smash and crush monsters of various types using tactical combat mechanics. It's not an easy game by a long shot but the weighty feeling of battle and the deep crafting tools offer players plenty of replay and gameplay longevity. In other words, I had a ton of fun playing Monster Hunter 3 on the Wii and it should be just as fun (if not more so) on the Wii U.
