Green Hornet Still On Track?

By Rafe Telsch: 2009-01-28 17:28:27
Green Hornet Still On Track? It appears the rumors of the demise of Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet were greatly exaggerated. I should have gone with my gut on this one. At the same time that everyone (including us) were running stories on the studio hanging up the hat on Green Hornet, I noticed the movie was still listed as an active production in the most recent Production Weekly. I thought it odd for a movie to be dead and have an anticipated shooting date at the same time, but who was I to question it? After all, the originating site with the news had pretty good support for the story.

It sounds like Green Hornet is still an active project, with Stephen Chow telling Ain’t It Cool and Seth Rogen himself telling CHUD the movie is still a go. In fact, Rogen expects the movie to hit the original release date if a director is hired soon - something he calls a distinct possibility.

The really good news about all of this, aside from the movie still being in production, is that Chow says he has not dropped completely off the movie as rumors suggested. He won’t be directing, but he is still planning on playing Kato.

I don’t know why I’m all excited about The Green Hornet. It’s a franchise that has never gotten me tremendously excited. I think it’s the notion of someone like Seth Rogen doing something outside the realm of what we’ve seen him do before. Regardless, for right now it sounds like The Green Hornet is still on the radar.
