Comic Con 2011: Pee-wee Herman's New Movie Is Written And Ready For The Road![]()
Pee-wee Herman showed up at Comic Con today, and Paul Reubens too I suppose, to talk about his new movie. Yes, he’s making another movie and it’s kind of a big deal. He’s working on the film with Judd Apatow’s production company and during the course of his Con appearance Pee-Wee revealed that he wrote the script with one of Apatow’s collaborators, Paul Rust.
There had been rumors that Apatow would direct the movie, and while Pee-wee didn’t confirm those, he did tell the assembled audience that he and Rust went to Judd for notes while they wrote. It sounds like whether or not he directs, the Knocked Up comedy maestro is deeply involved in the creation of the next big Pee-wee adventure. Speaking of that adventure, Pee-wee confirmed that it will be a road movie and says that it will be very much in the mold of his first film, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. Whether or not it actually gets made resides in the studio’s hands. He says studio execs are reading the finished script, and just in case they like it, he has his wardrobe in order. Those trademark gray suits? He has six to eight-hundred of them at the ready, presumably with bowties to match. The next place you’ll see Pee-wee Herman though won’t be in his feature film. Instead expect to see him on an upcoming episode of Top Chef, which he’ll film in the Alamo. The stars at night, are big and bright… |
