The Dark Knight Rises Announces December Blu-ray Release

It's not a formal press release or anything, but by posting a teaser trailer on YouTube with their official online account, Warner Brothers has effectively confirmed the Blu-Ray and DVD release date for The Dark Knight Rises. You can take a look at the trailer below:

They don't even get specific with the release date in the trailer-- you have to look into the text below the YouTube embed for that, where it tells you to "Own it on Blu-ray Combo Pack or Digital Download 12/3." Hat tip to Batman-News for spotting the video, though they haven't been able to learn much more information than we have here. That December 3 release makes sense for getting The Dark Knight Rises on to shelves while holiday shopping is in full swing, but it's also a Monday, whereas most Blu-ray and DVD releases happen on Tuesdays. That Tuesday, December 4, is currently set aside for the Finding Nemo Blu-ray as well as Catch Me If You Can, which leaves plenty of room for a blockbuster the size of TDKR.

We'll keep an eye out for an official Warner Bros. announcement soon, but in the meantime, let us know in the comments if you'll be buying The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray, or if you might be holding out for the full Nolan trilogy box set, which you know has to be coming down the line sooner or later. Today we'll also have our first installment of Oscar Eye, in which we go over the chances the movie has at the Academy Awards.
