Hearing the name Dominic Purcell instantly conjures up images of the ever-serious, often brooding Lincoln Burrows. The former Prison Break star has gone on to do other roles since the Fox action-drama wrapped up years ago, including a recent appearance in the film Straw Dogs. He’s apparently sticking with the big screen for now as he’s been cast in Warner Bros. Paradise Lost.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Purcell is set to be Satan’s right-hand man in the Alex Proyas directed action fantasy, which might not hit theaters until 2013. As you may have guessed by the name, the film is a take on John Milton’s poem about the war between angels and heaven. Purcell will play Jerahmeel, an angel later to be renamed Moloch when he switches sides and becomes Lucifer's #2.

Purcell played Lincoln Burrow in Prison Break, serving as the brother of Wentworth Miller’s character Michael Scofield, and the man Michael broke into prison to break out. He’s in good company among the cast of Paradise Lost, which includes Bradley Cooper, Casey Affleck, Djimon Hounsou, Ben Walker, Camilla Belle and Callan McAuliffe. Moloch sounds like a dark role. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the role of a fallen angel.
