Harrison Ford Coaches Jackie Robinson In New Images From 42
Harrison Ford hasn't had a great deal of luck choosing projects since the turn of the century. While it will be pretty damn hard to entirely ruin the legacy of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, making movies like Firewall, Crossing Over, Extraordinary Measures, and Hollywood Homicide has certainly put a bit of tarnish on it.
But in 2013 he will have four chances to turn his bad streak around. He has the Robert Luketic thriller Paranoia, Rob Reiner's You Belong To Me, and the highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation Ender's Game - but before all of that he will be a part of the Jackie Robinson story in 42.
As part of their 2013 preview, Warner Bros. has released three new stills from the true-life baseball biopic, two of which feature Ford as Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who first signed Robinson. Check the images out below and click on each one to see it in high-res.
Written and directed by Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential), 42 tells the story of how Robinson signed with the Dodgers in 1947, breaking the long-standing color barrier in Major League Baseball. The film will center on the scrutiny and hate that Robinson experienced during his time in the Majors, and his relationship with Branch Rickey. The terrific supporting cast includes Alan Tudyk, Christopher Meloni, John C. McGinley, Lucas Black, Brett Cullen and T.R. Knight. The movie will be released on April 12th next year and you can watch the trailer and find out more about it in our Blend Film Database.
