Harry And Lloyd Go For A Ride In First Dumb & Dumber To Still
Are you guys ready for the return of two of the dumbest characters in movie history? No, I’m not talking about Bella and Edward. I’m talking about Harry and Lloyd, the dapper-when-they-need-to-be gentlemen at the forefront of the Farrelly brothers’ hit comedy Dumb and Dumber and the upcoming sequel Dumb and Dumber To. We won’t even pretend we’re talking about that shitty prequel. And now we have our first look at the two characters in action, assuming you think two guys going absolutely nowhere counts as action.
First appearing on the film’s Twitter page, the above pic of Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) could have been taken out of a scene from the first film’s cutting room floor. Not that it takes much to create these signature looks. Just give Carrey a bowl cut and just hope Daniels’ bedhead is particularly spiky that day, along with a wardrobe that wouldn’t look out of place on an elementary student. But there’s something so heartwarming about seeing these guys back together again.
And what are they doing? Well, they’re riding a stationary statue of a buck and clearly having a good time doing it. It isn’t clear where this moment will fit into what we know about the story, but I’m hoping the box that Harry is holding happens to contain his kidney, though I doubt it. Even they’re not dumb enough to keep an internal organ outside of a refrigerated container, right?
In the sequel, the two best friends are on another road trip looking for Harry’s illegitimate daughter so that he can give her a kidney transplant. They somehow bump heads with the dysfunctional Pichlow family, including the murderous wife Adele (Laurie Holden), who wants to kill her doctor husband (Steve Tom) and stepdaughter (Rachel Melvin) so that she can take the family’s money and hit the road herself. The film also stars Kathleen Turner and Rob Riggle, and will host a bevy of cameos, most of which are being kept in the dark for now.
Peter Farrelly recently took to Reddit for an informative AMA (which you can find here) and answered more than a few questions about the upcoming film, promising that this could be the greatest film in all of cinema. They took enough time banging the script out, taking advantage of help from other screenwriters and the Family Guy writing team to fill the film with as many jokes as possible, so I won’t be calling bullshit on it just yet. We’ll all find out together when the film hits theaters on November 14. Let’s hope everyone’s pets keep their heads on until then.
