We're only two weeks away from seeing The Rum Diary, Johnny Depp's long-awaited reunion with the works of Hunter S. Thompson, unleashed on the world. If you're as excited as I am, you can take solace in this new poster, which shows that Depp's character, Paul Kemp, could teach the Hangover guys a thing or two about booze-soaked foreign misadventures. You can see the poster below, or click over to MTV News for an embiggened version.

Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary follows journalist Kemp as he abandons New York for a job at the San Juan Star in 1950s Puerto Rico. A fictionalized version of Thompson's own exploits in Puerto Rico, The Rum Diary sees Kemp befriending the eccentric cast of characters who staff the paper. Given the Thompson pedigree and the title of the film, you can expect plenty of boozing as Kemp self-destructs and falls for a dame (Amber Heard) he probably shouldn't.

In addition to Depp and Heard, The Rum Diary cast includes Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, and Richard Jenkins, with a script and direction from Bruce Robinson (The Killing Fields). The Rum Diary opens on October 28th, courtesy of FilmDistrict.
