Kelly MacDonald Falls For David Tennant In The Decoy Bride Trailer
What do Boardwalk Empire‘s Margaret Schroeder, the tenth Doctor, and Marc from Ugly Betty have in common? The actors who played them are all set to star in a movie together called The Decoy Bride. The trailer for the movie, which is due for a March release, but will debut even sooner on iTunes, paints a charming picture with romance and comedy intertwined as a stand-in bride falls for the groom.
Directed by Sheree Folkson, The Decoy Bride stars Kelly MacDonald, a Scottish woman who’s set to be the “decoy bride” for the high-profile (press-hounded) wedding of English author James Arber (David Tennant) and his fiance, a famous actress named Lara Tyler (Alice Eve). As you’ll see in the trailer, shenanigans transpire and romance may be in the cards for the fake-bride and the groom. Michael Urie, whom Ugly Betty fans will recognize for his role as the witty, occasionally conspiring Mark St. James, also stars.

Even before watching the trailer, the poster (below) had me sold on the cast, with Doctor Who’s David Tennant (see also: Fright Night) and Boardwalk Empire’s Kelly MacDonald (see also Trainspotting), along with Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League, Sex and the City 2) featured prominently.
The trailer is actually funny, though the story looks like it could tread into familiar waters, with a woman falling for a spoken-for man, who may just fall for her back, and the odd-man(bride)-out possibly being unlikable enough to root firmly against. That aside, it looks like a fun comedy, and I can easily see being charmed by the cast (particularly Tennant and MacDonald).
The film is written by Neil Jaworski and Sally Phillips, the latter of whom I’m pretty sure appears numerous times the trailer (though IMDB doesn’t currently have her credited in an acting role in the film). Bridget Jones fans may recognize Phillips as Shazza from the movies.
The Decoy Bride arrives in theaters on March 9th, and will be available on iTunes on February 17th.
