Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan descended on Park City, site of the Sundance Film Festival, to announce her participation in a new film project. Lohan told gathered press that sheís seeking a fresh start, and wants to get her personal and professional life back in order, and Ö

Iím sorry, are we really still doing this?

The Wrap has the story, reporting that Lohan will produce and star in Inconceivable, a psychological thriller. Emmett/Furla Films is backing the $5 million picture, which is expected to begin filming in March. It will open in NY and L.A. before going the VOD route. The trade site adds that as a producer, Lohan "will be involved with choosing a director, who should be hired before the end of the month."

Because giving Lohan more responsibilities is a good idea? Ask director Paul Schrader how that worked out. He attempted to work with Lindsay on The Canyons, a drama that required her to somehow out-act a full-time porn star. She couldnít. If you havenít read the backstory on the ridiculous obstacles Lohan created on the set of The Canyons, take time today and scan this piece. The folks at Emmett/Furla might want to thumb through it before this Inconceivable movie gets off the ground.

Through the magic of technology, you can watch Lohanís Sundance press conference right here. I think she attracted at least five reporters!

The press conference is filled with all the usual Lohan babble. She loves the script. Sheís anxious to get working. She has been looking for a legit project like this for a long time. Yadda yadda yadda. This is how it starts. Schrader (and countless others) knows how it ends.

Legitimate question: Why take a chance on Lohan at this point? She hasnít been in a "hit" movie since 2005ís Herbie: Fully Loaded. The Canyons, which I keep referencing, ended up earning $51,135. Wow. You and I could "star" in a movie and earn more than that. I understand that she brings a publicity bump at first, but does that translate into box office dollars? Usually not.

Inconceivable might happen. It might not. If it does get underway, I hope they find room for Wallace Shawn.
