While I wish they’d picked a title that didn’t instantly make people think it was some sort of X-Men prequel (which it isn’t), The Mutant Chronicles could be a promising entry in the future warfare genre.

It stars a major cast which includes Thomas Jane, John Malkovich, Ron Perlman, and Sin City’s Devon Aoki. Set in the 23rd century it tells the story of a soldier fighting a bunch of creatures called “NecroMutants”. As long as they aren’t zombies. It seems like every movie turns into another exercise in zombie hunting lately. Give us a break.

Though it’s probably no real indicator as to the quality of the film, the first teaser poster for The Mutant Chronicles has been released to the default studio repository AICN. I’m not sure what a hat on a pointy stick says about the film, but it looks pretty cool. Click over to AICN to see a high-res version.
