MOVIE NEWS
Narnia Kids Cast Casting news on the Chronicles of Narnia movie is released with a sort of desperate fanfare, generated no doubt by people who don’t know what to do without Lord of the Rings news to scour. It’ll only get more sadly frantic as director Adam Adamson approaches his December 23, 2005 filming date. Perhaps at this point we should all sit down, remind ourselves that this is a Disney movie, and then lower our expectations based on their recent track record.
The latest comes from The New Zealand Herald which reports that the four young leads for the upcoming Disney/Walden Media film have been cast. Not that these names will mean anything to you, but Georgie Henley, age 9 will play lead character Lucy; Skandar Keynes, 12, plays Edmund; Anna Popplewell, age 15, is Susan; and William Moseley, age 17, plays the eldest brother Peter. All four are British, which makes sense since you need Queen approved accents for this sort of endeavor. Also rumored to be joining the cast is beloved fat man Jim Broadbent. Broadbent will most likely be bringing life to the role of the professor in the film. Broadbent isn’t new to playing professors, having just finished stinking it up as head of the Royal Science Academy and preventor of knowledge (which is really sort of like a professor in reverse isn't it?) in the Jackie Chan bomb Around the World in 80 Days, another fine Disney and Walden Media product. ![]() Got questions? .
