Disney has just released a great new poster for National Treasure: The Book of Secrets to Slashfilm. Or at least it’s great in theory. What’s going on with Nicolas Cage’s face? It looks like he’s been playing with his mother’s makeup, or like he’s wearing some sort of Nic Cage Halloween mask over his head.

Cage’s weird skin issues aside, the poster is every bit as cool as the movie deserves. Each time I see one of the trailers for it in a theater I get a little giddy feeling in my stomach. The first movie was just that much fun. It’s the movie Da Vinci Code wishes it could be.

In the sequel, Benjamin Franklin Gates’s great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln’s death when a missing page from the diary of Lincoln assassinator John Wilkes Booth surfaces. Determined to clear his family’s name Ben tracks down clues and plots to kidnap the president. As a method to clear your ancestor of presidential assassination, presidential kidnapping seems like a round about way to do it, but I’m sure it all works out in the end.

Here’s the poster:
